Vintage Barbie as Art – The Barbie Doll Portrait Project

The same beauty and style that inspires so many of us to become Vintage Barbie Collectors has inspired Larry Torno, a professional photographer, to team with Barbie collector Frank Chross to create The Barbie Doll Portrait Project – a year-long photographic art study of collectible, vintage Barbie Dolls. Each week, for 52-weeks, a collectible Barbie doll is selected and photographed to create a portrait of her and is posted along with detailed information about her hair, clothes and backstory highlights. Each post includes the observations of both the photographer and the collector. The project, presented in a blog format, began Halloween week 2007 featuring Barbie in her 1963 Halloween costume, Masquerade.
