Here it is almost Halloween and we haven’t talked about 2011 Holiday Barbie & Hallmark Ornaments yet!   Apologies for slipping down on the job…

This years Holiday Barbie is so gorgeous – it was designed by Robert Best and I think it is one of the most elegant and sophisticated Holiday Dolls to date. I also realized that this is the 24th year that Mattel has done a Holiday Barbie and it makes me excited hoping there is something wonderful planned for next year’s 25th Anniversary doll!

2011 has been a sad year for collectors and lovers of Vintage Barbie Doll Reproductions. After several years of outstanding repros, this year there are sadly none. The one bright spot is about to hit the market.

The Silkstone Francie doll is scheduled to be released by Mattel August 1. This is reported to be the first in a Francie series, with the second to be a Barbie Collectors Club exclusive, to be offered later this year.

The first Silkstone Francie is called Check Please. Francie is wearing a mod red and white checked suit (with a jacket, mini-skirt and belt) and hat and has a white blouse, hose and handbag. She is wearing red and white shoes and has a black puppy on a leash. It is a dealer exclusive – meaning it will not be available at the mass market stores.

As the doll hasn’t shipped yet, I can’t wait to see it in person.

2010 Holiday Barbie Doll is wearing an elegant red and white gown with gold trim.

The Caucasian version has the Mackie face sculpt and long blonde hair, while the African American Barbie has the Goddess face sculpt and long dark hair.

The My Favorite Barbie American Girl Reproduction was released in June 2010. The Barbie doll is a reproduction of the 1965 American Girl Barbie. In addition to the American Girl’s original One piece Turquoise Striped Swimsuit and Turquoise Open Toe Heel shoes, this My Favorite Barbie also includes a reissue of the ensemble Matinee Fashion #1640 (1965).

In addition to the new dolls for 2010 in the My Favorite Barbie series, Mattel has announced a new Vintage Reproduction Series for 2010. It is the Vintage Careers Series. It consists of three reproduction vintage Barbie dolls wearing ensembles (all properly accessorized, of course) that represented Barbie’s earliest careers and will be released throughout the year with a $49.95 price tag.  The series includes:

Registered Nurse – a blonde ponytail Barbie wearing Registered Nurse #991 (1961-1964)

Student Teacher a brunette swirl ponytail Barbie wearing Student Teacher #1622 (1965-1966)
